<description>Modern day farming methods over here in Europe, are very much care for the re growth of the land and working on Ecosystem Services.

We of course need a supply of food but modern farming methods are a far cry from 10 years ago.

		<description>Hi Garry,

This is one question that haven’t left my mind since this January, 2008. In January I began to work at Atlantic Forest Conservation Program of The Nature Conservancy in Brazil. One of the most important mission that I have had since so, is to implement one project with the PES conception.
The challenges have been too much; to explain how everything will happen for all our partners and engage landowners were being the biggest.
Most of the doubts presented by the farmers have been on the value paid to the environmental service. We adopt the cost of opportunity to calculate this value, but the great difficulty has been that the form that the farmer calculates his cost of production isn’t the same that of the technicians and economists do.
Do you know anyone experience what worked the question of how much it shoud be paid for the environmental service with the farmers? Some of experience that did you quote it did that?
I really like to keep contact with you and others that have interest to look for answers like that.

Warm regards,
